DANIEL PALILLO SS2012
Daniel Palillo’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection called Never Mind. The whole line is wonderfully creepy, inspired by Palillo's time spent in America. The entire collection raws from the anarchy of the designer’s teenage music heroes, while painting a portrait of his everyday lived experiences: Saturday evening soccer matches, Sunday morning cartoons, etc. I'm in love with his quirky whimsical aesthetic, where enormous proportions meet three-dimensional structures and morbid graphics. Totally cartoon chic. I also like the fresh look to of the collection — with over-sized cuts, irreverent prints, and streetwear aesthetic. HAUNTED AIR BY OSSAIN BROWN
Ossian Brown was a member of the dark, magical electronic music group Coil and is currently in Clyclobe, a duo with his partner Stephen Thrower. Ossian is a strange attractor. Weird things find him. Like his exquisite collection of antique vernacular photographs of Halloweens past. Brown compiled his favorites of the freaky found photos, all dating between 1875 and 1955, into a lovely new book titled Haunted air. David Lynch wrote the introduction and Geoff Cox the afterword. Here is a glimpse of how the old, weird America celebrated All-Hallows Eve.

THE BEAUTY OF AN UGLY ADDICITION BY FRIEKKE JANSSENS
There is definitely a bit of sense of humor in the Smoking Kids series of photographs by Friekke Janssens. With the tobacco industry's push toward attracting children to consume their products, Janssens has theatrically staged and costumed his kids to act the part of "sophisticated" adults enjoying a good smoke. |

SEED CATHEDRAL SHANGHAI BY THOMAS HEATHERWICK
British architect Thomas Heatherwick was recently featured on a Ted Talk where he presented five projects including his Seed Cathedral from Shanghai’s Expo 2010. The pavilion incorporated thousands of seed-encapsulating plastic rods that transmit light into and out of the building. Taken as a whole, the strands resemble one giant occupiable seed puff. Check out Heatherwick’s talk about the Seed Cathedral and his firm’s design philosophy after the jump.

MEANDEDWARD
Me&Edward about project :”Metamorphosis” is a concept, photo manipulations
about the unlimited transformations of human body. Just like a chameleon, it’s fitting, just like a virus, it’s mutating, just like a personality, it’s changing. Something new is about to birth, a metamorphosis, an organic complexity.
Photo manipulations in progress…

WELCOME TO PYONGYANG BY CHARLIE CRANE
How do you photograph one of the most secretive countries in the world?
For Charlie Crane the answer was simple, photograph what they want you to see. If there is no possibility of getting underneath the surface then the answer was to photograph the surface itself. This series is taken from a larger body of work in Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea.
Although not commonly thought of as a holiday destination all these photographs have been taken at tourist sites throughout the city.
It took over a year for Charlie to get permission to go in with his camera: he was not allowed to take his mobile phone past customs and was met by two guides who were to accompany him at all times throughout his trip. At first they appeared robotic in conversation as if reading from a script, telling of their countrys great achievements. After a few days and many polaroids the guides became more relaxed and personable.
Working with such tight restrictions in a country once described as a Stalinist Disneyland was a real challenge but the result is the strongest body of work that Charlie has produced to date.
Charlie's first book Welcome to Pyongyang was produced in conjunction with Nicholas Bonner of Koryo Tours and was published in the spring of 2007 by Chris Boot.
